Be Part of the Mission:

It is through partnership with community members, like you, that we are able to accomplish our mission and move closer to our vision. Thank you for making a difference in the lives of mothers, babies, and families in your community.

1. Join the Super Baby Society. Join our monthly sponsorship program at $35 per month and help sponsor a mom and baby!

2. Purchase a Welcome Home gift for a mom and her newborn. These packages include handmade baby blankets from local volunteers, diapers, baby essential items and more! $25 each.

 3. Donate a car seat. Babies can not leave the hospital to go home unless they have a car seat. Help provide a car seat for a mom in need. $75 each.

4. Purchase a crib. We are always desperate for cribs for our low income moms. New state laws severely limit crib donations due to safety concerns, so we are always looking for other resources to pursue to help fill this need. Pack n Play’s are versatile and safe. $100 each.

5. Make an end of year donation! We appreciate you considering Step By Step as you make your end of year donations. Step By Step is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and all donations are tax deductible.

The Gift of Three Bottles, a Story of Generosity
Submitted by a Step by Step Caseworker
In 2005, I worked with a woman throughout her pregnancy and after her son was born. She was new to the area and was already supporting herself and her young daughter on a very small salary at a local job. She was extremely isolated from any kind of support system, primarily because of her location and finances. She lived in a very modest one bedroom apartment which only had twin beds, a small couch, a table, and two folding chairs. She lived very simply and worked hard to provide for her children.

In my final visit with her, I brought this woman a bathtub for her infant son. She too wanted to give me something, so she asked if she could donate three baby bottles to Step by Step, since she didn't need them anymore. Her thought was that another mother/family could use them. I said that I would be happy pass them on.

As I interacted with her kids, I realized that she was digging around in drawers, couch cushions, and her purse to find loose change. She insisted that she wanted to fill the bottles with every penny that she had in her home. When I told her that she should save that money for her family, she said she had received so much support through Step by Step that she just wanted to help other families and bless their lives with her donation.

I cannot even begin to describe what a humbling experience I had in her home that day. This woman has very few possessions and always struggled to provide food, clothing, and shelter for her children. Yet, on that day, she truly sacrificed all she had when she placed $2.00 in the first bottle, $1.75 in the second, and $1.50 in the third. All this, to bless another family that may have been struggling more than she was at the time.

“As a physician caring for women experiencing pregnancy complications, I have often been discouraged by the personal, relational, and other barriers to a woman taking care of herself. Step by Step comes alongside vulnerable women while pregnant and caring for their babies, encourages them, and helps them find and use resources to thrive. It is one of the rare services that integrates the medical and personal, closing the gaps that usually exist in social service systems.”
